India Economic Summit to be held from November 12 to 14 in Mumbai
The annual India Economic Summit, which is a three day event being organised jointly by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will be held from November 12 to 14 in Mumbai.
The event is usually held in New Delhi and is the first time that it will be organized in the capital of the country. More than 800 corporate personalities from 40 countries and prominent political leaders are expected to gather for the event in Mumbai from this Saturday.
From the Indian government, Mr Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Mr Kapil Sibal, Minister of Communications and Information Technology will be among the participants interacting with domestic and foreign business players.
Reliance Industries Chairman, Mr Mukesh Ambani; Chief Executive of Tata Consultancy Services, Mr N. Chandrasekaran; and the Chairman of SBI, Mr Pratip Chaudhuri will be among the business personalities from India.
Ather important public figures expected to participate include Mr Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology; Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission; Mr Nitin Gadkari, President, Bharatiya Janata Party; Mr Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission; Mr Ashwani Kumar, Minister of State of Planning, Science and Technology and Earth Sciences; and Mr Sam G. Pitroda, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations.
“Coming to Mumbai this year is symbolic of bringing the discussion from the Centre to the States,” the World Economic Forum's Senior Director and Head of Asia, Mr Sushant Rao, said
