Bajaj Auto Bike Sales Remain Up By 1% In May 2012Bajaj Auto registered 1.23% growth in motorcycle sales during the month of May at 3,21,922 units.

As per reports, India's second biggest two-wheeler manufacturer had sold around 3,17,989 units during the same period of 2011.

Exports surged 3% during May at 1,30,573 units as against 1,26,818 units during the same month last year.

In the commercial vehicles group, Bajaj Auto declared that its sales dropped 26% at 30,297 units from 40,860 units.

Total vehicle sales of the company during May remained at 3,52,219 units after dropping 2%.

In addition, Bajaj Auto is establishing assembly lines in some of its major abroad markets in the African and Latin America.

As part of Bajaj Auto’s plans to allow exports exceed domestic volumes, the company is viewing raising its international capacitance by 15 to 20% this fiscal.

Bajaj Auto last month accredited completely-knocked-down (CKD) production lines in Mexico and Uganda and is proposing more in Kenya, Ethiopia and Angola by the next six months.

The investments in these projects will be made by local associates.

Mr. Rakesh Sharma, head of international business at Bajaj Auto stated, “Bajaj Auto will give technical support and export equipment to our distribution partner in various countries. The ownership of assembly lines is by our partners, this allows us to focus on market development.”
