According to a new study, India has emerged as one of the top three fastest growing internet markets in the world as more people get connected in the country.

The joint study by Indian industry body, Assocham and ComScore found that total number of internet users in the country is at about 125 million and the country is adding more than 18 million Internet users, recording a growth rate of about 41 per cent during the year.

The report noted that India has been the fastest nation among the Bric nations in terms of growing internet population. It showed that China added over 14 million users to reach 336 million internet users till July 2012. India emerged among the top three fastest growing markets in the world during the 12 month period, according to the study.

Assocham secretary general D S Rawat observed that the about three fourth of the total internet population in India are in the age group of 15-34 years and thus the country is one of the youngest online population nation. He also said that the trend is expected to continue due to the age demographic of the country.
