Lahore, May 29 : Pakistani lawyers have decided to organize a long-march on June 10 to force the federal government to pay heed to their demand of reinstating the deposed judiciary, and also to ensure that President Pervez Musharraf steps down.

Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan said that the federal government was not sincere in restoring the sacked judges and so the long-march by lawyers on June 10 will be organized to resolve the issue.

He claimed that the march will create pressure on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to step down. “June 10 will be Musharraf's last day in the presidency, as he will not be given another chance to create disharmony amongst political forces,” the Daily Times quoted Aitzaz as saying.

He said that the government had almost shelved the issue of restored the sacked judges so lawyers would now rock Islamabad, especially the President's House. He also demanded that Musharraf resign before the long march otherwise he would have to face impeachment by parliament. He also appealed to the public to join the lawyers in the long march.

The SCBA president met lawyers at the Karachi Shuhada Hall of the Lahore High Court where he signed a register prepared by the lawyers. (ANI)
