NSEL promoters summoned for questioningThe promoters of National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL) have been summoned by the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police for questioning related to the alleged Rs 5,600-crore scam at the bourse.

A senior official from the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police, which is investigating the alleged scam, revealed that many promoters including Jignesh Shah, defaulting brokers as well as some senior officials, were summoned for questioning.

Revealing the development, the official said, "We have summoned Shah, (Joseph) Massey, other promoters, directors and defaulting brokers, directing them to appear before us for questioning."

As many as 60 people have been summoned, and they will have to appear before the authorities within five days from the day they receive the summons.

The people were summoned after FIRs were registered against them on Monday.

Meanwhile, officers from the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police continued raiding the offices and residences of the NSEL's promoters, senior officers, brokers and defaulters on Wednesday.

NSEL didn't respond to requests for a comment on the development.
