Kuala Lumpur  - A Malaysian student was dead and two others were still missing Tuesday after a suspension bridge they were walking on broke.

The 22 students from Perak state were on a camping trip when the incident happened late Monday, police said.

Three of the people who were on the bridge fell into the river while the remaining 19 escaped unscathed.

Police and rescue teams mounted a search. Officers discovered the body of a young female student early Tuesday, the Star online news portal said.

Police said the search was continuing for the two missing people. (dpa)
