Oprah ‘resolves everything’ with school abuse victim
London, Nov 27: Oprah Winfrey met the student who claimed a staff member abused her, during a secret trip to her elite Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg.
According to sources, the talk show queen "resolved everything" with the 12-year-old girl after meeting her parents.
A spokeswoman for Winfrey's Harpo Productions confirmed that the media mogul was in South Africa to mark the holiday season with students at her all girls school.
"I am very happy and pleased that Oprah heard our side of the story. We have closure...Oprah resolved everything,” E! Online quoted the girl’s father, as telling People magazine.
The man said his daughter planned to return to the campus and that he and his family had been invited to a Winfrey-hosted school party scheduled for Nov 27.
He didn’t confirm whether there was a financial settlement.
Earlier this year, the man's daughter fled the Winfrey academy after reporting sexual abuse.
Tiny Makopo, the woman at the center of the scandal, was subsequently charged with 13 criminal counts ranging from verbal abuse to enticing a minor through the commission of an indecent or immoral act.
Winfrey's holiday visit to the school is the latest in a series since the multimedia star said she learned of the allegations in early October.
Earlier this month, Winfrey spoke to the media about the alleged abuse saying, “This has been one of the most devastating, if not the most devastating experience of my life.” (ANI)
