Orissa Government takes steps for AIDS affected persons

Naveen PatnaikOrissa Government has taken few steps for AIDS affected persons to improve their standard of living. Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa introduces a new plan for HIV/AIDS affected people; he said that Orissa government is planning to include HIV-AIDS affected persons in the up-coming BPL list.

Orissa government had hosted an AIDS campaign Red Ribbon Express (RRE) at Mancheswar Railway station, where Naveen Patnaik said that government is concerned for all the persons affected by AIDS and soon necessary actions will be taken to help the affected people and their family to live normal life.

The campaign was also witnessed by Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai who said that 1150 people in Orissa have died from AIDS till date and 16733 people are affected with AIDS. He said that frequency of AIDS affected people in Orissa is less than one percent when compared to other states in the country.

The Joint Director of NACO Manyank Agrawal stayed in Orissa for two days during the campaign, praised Orissa government for taking necessary and adequate steps for AIDS affected people. He also encouraged volunteers for creating AIDS awareness in the state.
