Paes-Cara duo enters into US Open final

Paes-Cara duo enters into US Open finalIndia's Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe have stormed into the final of the mixed doubles event of the US open for the second successive time after defeating Taipei-Zimbabwe pair of Su-Wei Hsieh and Kevin Ullyett in the semifinal at the Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.  

The defending champions Paes and Cara ousted their fifth seeded opponents in a three setter match 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. The Indo-Zimbabwean pair fought hard and raced away with the match after it went to tie-breaker.  

The first set witnessed 6 broken serves as Paes-Cara duo converted 4 out of 6 break-point opportunities, while their opponents managed to earn only 2 points out of 8 break-points.  

Su-Kevin duo came back in the second set and leveled the match. They earned 18 winners as compared to 8 by Paes-Cara duo. Paes-Cara saved 8 out of 9 break points but lost the set. The final set went to tie-breaker and Paes-Cara held their nerves to win the match.

Meanwhile, India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Liezel Huber of USA crashed out after going down to unseeded pair of Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott in the mixed doubles semi-finals.
