Imprisonment of Varun Gandhi, an attempt to gather Muslim votes: ThackerayMumbai, Apr 1 : Continuing to criticise the authorities for taking stringent action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi, who has been accused of making communal remarks, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Wednesday said that that the imprisonment of Gandhi was a warning to Hindus and an attempt to gather Muslim vote bank.

"There is a conspiracy afoot to corner Hindus and finish them. In this election, Hindus should unitedly show their iron fist and unfurl the saffron flag atop the Red Fort," Thackeray was quoted by party mouthpiece Saamna.

Bal Thackeray discharged from Mumbai’s Lilawati Hospital

Mumbai, Mar 8 : Ailing Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was discharged from the Lilavati Hospital here on Sunday. He was undergoing treatment for weakness and fever.

Party sources said Thackeray was discharged at around noon, and went directly to his residence in suburban Bandra

The 82-year-old Sena Chief was admitted to the Lilavati hospital in Bandra on February 26 after he complained of fever and weakness.

"Thackeray is doing fine, but will be discharged after one or two days," Dr Narendra Trivedi, Vice-President and hospital spokesperson said.

Thackeray, who is undergoing treatment for weakness and fever had to be kept in the ICU for complete rest.

However, according to Trivedi, now he is doing fine and meeting friends and relatives

Balasaheb Thackeray is ready for poll vault, again

Bal ThackerayThe Shiv Sena, on Sunday, asserted that it would not give up its Hindutva agenda in the upcoming polls.

"Also, our chief Balasaheb Thackeray, despite his bad health, will actively campaign for the elections," said Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut. "Balasaheb has always been our star campaigner. Like always, he will plan our strategies and guide us."

Raut added that Thackeray wouldn't be attending or conducting any party rallies. "He will issue statements through his editorial in Saamna. He will direct the workers through his writings."
