Govt. policies aimed at ensuring rapid development: Javadekar

Prakash JavadekarNew Delhi, Dec 10 : Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has said the Narendra Modi-led government in New Delhi is pursuing action-oriented policies to ensure rapid development to the people while purposefully addressing climate change.

"The new Government in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi represents the hopes and aspirations of more than a billion Indian people for growth and inclusive development. We are pursuing action-oriented policies to bring rapid development to our people while purposefully addressing climate change," he said in his address at the high-level segment of UNFCCC COP-20 at Lima.

Javadekar criticises opposition for disrupting Parliament

Javadekar criticises oppositionNew Delhi, Dec 4 : Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Thursday criticised the opposition for disrupting proceedings in the Parliament, terming it a 'wastage of public money'.

"The opposition parties are protesting on a non-issue. The statements by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti were bad and she apologized for it. She took it back, regretted it and even the Prime Minister came in the House and explained the government's stand on it in unequivocal terms. The Prime Minister has stated that these kinds of remarks are unacceptable," Javadekar told the media here.

Prakash Javadekar visits Kaziranga

Prakash JavadekarNagaon, (Assam), Sep 13 : Union Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar visited the Kaziranga National Park recently.

At a meeting held at Kaziranga Convention Hall, the union minister spoke to the locals and various NGOs and organizations and discussed problems like Rhino Poaching and the protection of wildlife.

He declared that he will try to recruit maximum local people and engage them for the safety and security of the Kaziranga National Park. He also announced that a special Rhino Protection Force will be formed soon. (ANI)

IB Ministry suspends CBFC CEO

Prakash-Javadekar_New Delhi, Aug 20  : The Ministry of information and Broadcasting has suspended the chief executive officer of the Central Board of Film Certification, Rakesh Kumar , who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Speaking to ANI exclusively, Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, said corruption will not be tolerated, and hence, Kumar has been suspended.

Indo-US group needs to work very closely on climate change: Javadekar

Prakash-JavadekarNew Delhi, July 31 : Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that in view of the 2015 agreement on climate change, the Indo-U. S. Joint Working Group needed to work very closely and develop a common understanding on an ambitious and balanced package for the post-2020 period.

Javadekar, who met Special Envoy Climate Change, USA, Todd Stern here yesterday, further said that the Joint Working Group would also establish coordination on mitigation and adaptation aspects.

Govt to follow constitution, Governors should 'follow conscience': Javadekar

"I expect that government will follow the Constitution and Governors and other appointees should follow their conscience," he said, responding to media reports over the Centre seeking the resignation of some state governors appointed by the previous Congress led UPA governemnt.

BJP to nominate Javadekar for Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh

Prakash-JavadekarNew Delhi: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar will get a Rajya Sabha berth from Madhya Pradesh after his name was finalised by BJP on Friday.

BJP decided to nominate Javadekar as its nominee for the Upper House from Madhya Pradesh where the seat had fallen vacant after Faggan Singh Kulaste was elected to the Lok Sabha. The election is slated for June 19.

The party also decided to nominate its leader Prabhar Kore as its Rajya Sabha nominee from Karnataka.

The process of filing nominations for the election to the Council of States has started and the last date is June 9.

No plan to regulate media, says I&B minister Javadekar

Prakash-JavadekarNew Delhi, May 27 : The new government has no plans to regulate the media, said Prakash Javadekar who took charge as information and broadcasting minister Tuesday.

"The media has experimented with self-regulation in the past and it knows its responsibility. The government does not wish to impose any kind of regulation on it," Javadekar said after assuming charge.

Javadekar said that the government expected everyone's cooperation in running the country, including the media.

"You might have seen that Nitish Kumar, Mulayam and Digvijay Singh are constantly attacking Modi. It means Modi's influence is now quite visible to them.

And so, they are now targetting him because they cannot confront him with any issues," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar
