Japanese Prince Akishino meets Romanian president

Japanese Prince Akishino meets Romanian president Bucharest - Japanese Prince Akishino, continuing a tour of central and eastern Europe, met Wednesday in Bucharest with Romanian President Traian Basescu.

The Mediafax agency in Bucharest said the talks covered, among other topics, questions about the environment in the Danube River region.

Prince Akishino, accompanied by his wife the Princess Kiko, had arrived in Bucharest for a four-day stay in Romania. Beforehand the couple had visited Austria, Bulgaria and Hungary. (dpa)

Japanese Prince Akishino meets Hungarian president during visitBudapest - Japanese prince Akishino, the second son of Japanese Emperor Akihito, and his wife Princess Kiko met Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom on Monday, the third day of an official visit to Hungary.

According to the President's Office, Solyom discussed environmental issues with his guests before presenting them with presents of a Herend porcelain bird and a zither.

Akishino also met Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai in the Hungarian parliament building while in the capital, Budapest.

Japanese Prince Akishino visits Bulgaria on European tourSofia  - Japan's Prince Akishino arrived Thursday in Bulgaria on a three-day visit marking half a century of diplomatic relations between Tokyo and Sofia.

Akishino, 43, the second son of Emperor Akihito, has embarked on a two-week tour of Europe with his wife, Princess Kiko. The tour has stops in Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania.

In Bulgaria, Akishino was scheduled to meet the Balkan country's top officials and tour sites of cultural and historic importance.(dpa)
