New Delhi, Oct 26 : Australia captain Ricky Ponting has been presented with the ICC ODI Championship shield following his team’s move to the top of the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table.

Australia, which slipped behind South Africa into second place just before the 1 April cut-off following the Proteas’ 3-0 victory over Bangladesh, had regained the top spot after defeating the West Indies in the opening game of the five-match ODI series in St Vincent in June.

The Aussie skipper, Ricky Ponting scored a century in the recent match in India and it is his 36th century by the player. He is satisfied over his success in the battlefield. Ricky said that he has a poor record in India and he tried to change the perception with hard work and will power.

The Australian player has played eight Tests on Indian grounds and his highest score was 60 so far. He said that he did his best to get victory. Harbhajan Singh has dismissed Ricky Ponting eight times but this time he failed to deter him in the battlefield.

In defence of Cricket Australia’s decision to go ahead with India tour, despite the serial blasts that took place on Saturday, Captain Ricky Ponting said that the security situation in India and Pakistan are different and the Australian team was confident of playing in India and not in Pakistan.
