PM, Biden discuss global issues

Manmohan Singh, Joe BidenThe white house reveals that on Feb 5, US Vice President Joe Biden called Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss about regional and global issues of mutual concern. Biden assures Mr. Singh that US will remain stick to its commitment in building a global, strategic partnership with India.

PM Manmohan Singh is worried for the growing inflation which is hampering the growth of the country. He asked Biden to ignore mandi taxes, octroi and local taxes for taming inflation.

The Prime Minister said that super stores play important role in the distribution of farm products and there is an immediate need to unite the supply chains with the organized retails.

For the week ended on January 22, due to hike in the prices of fruits, milk, meat and eggs, the food inflation has crossed 17%.

He also said that it is expected that Indian economy will grow by 8.8-9 % this fiscal year but increasing inflation is affecting the growth momentum.
