CPM, AIADMK announces electoral tie-upIn a significant move, the CPM formed an alliance with the All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu on Saturday for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

After two days of marathon deliberations at the State Committee Meeting here, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat called on AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden Residence yesterday afternoon and announced the alliance.

Tamil NaduChennai, Dec 5 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) jointly announced on Friday that they have decided to form a coalition for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalitha and CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat announced this during a joint press conference in Chennai this afternoon.

While speaking to reporters after an hour-long meeting, Jayalalitha described the meeting with Karat as “cordial”.

CPM to go with AIADMK in TN

AIADMK in Tamil NaduThe Marxist Communist Party of India (CPM) has decided to form an alliance with AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for the next general election.

"In all likelihood, we will have a tie-up with AIADMK," Said a party leader.

The decision is likely to be announced during the party's two-day politburo meeting. The meeting begins on November 29.

CPI has already decided to go with AIADMK.

Earlier both the left parties CPI and CPM have decided to have TDP as alliance partner in Andhra Pradesh.
