Lisbon - Parliamentary elections in Portugal have been set for September 27, announced President Anibal Cavaco Silva on Saturday.

There is no clear favourite for the elections. Until recently, the Socialists had been tipped to lead, but a setback in the recent European Parliament elections has made some analysts question how well they will do in national elections.

The Socialists currently have an absolute majority in the parliament.(dpa)
