Post Gujarat victory, BJP may reinduct Modi in party's parliamentary panel

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra ModiNew Delhi, Dec.27: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi appears to be back in favour with the top BJP brass in the national capital. There are now reports floating around that the party's central leadership is seriously considering his reinduction in the BJP Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the party, after the Gujarat Assembly election victory.

Modi had been removed from this panel early this year. Given his immense popularity in Gujarat and in other parts of the country, there is an overwhelming view within the party now that he should be used effectively in the party's election management.

The BJP has realised Modi's 'star value' as a powerful political orator and strategist, and with several Assembly elections slated for 2008, he can be expected to play a key role in strategising.

However, several party leaders feel that extreme voices like Modi have no place in a coalition era.

When he was removed, the decision to do so was placed at the doorstep of the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh, the parent body of the BJP.

The BJP is now keen to use the ‘Modi charisma’in national politics on a larger scale. (ANI)
