According to reports, Pravin Mahajan's body will be cremated today.

Pravin, who was sentenced to life for murdering his elder brother Pramod Mahajan, died on Wednesday in Mumbai following illness owing to brain haemorrhage.

Pravin's corpse body was taken to the Sir J. J. Hospital in Mumbai for postmortem on Wednesday night and then handed over to the family members.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde expressed his profound "sorrow" over the demise, but refused to say whether he would attend the interment.

Fifty year old Pravin had been admitted to Jupiter Hospital on Dec 11, last year, when he was on parole. He had been in coma since.

In a dramatic murder, which upset the whole country, he had shot his real brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan on April 22, 2006, in his Mumbai home.

Pramod succumbed to his bullet injuries 11 days later on May 3.

Soon after committing the offense, Pravin walked down to the police station and surrendered with his weapon system.

He was sentenced to life in prison by a sessions court for fratricide on Dec 18, 2007. (With Input from Agencies)
