Rahane, Raina power India to 187 in second ODISouthampton, Sep 7 - Ajinkya Rahane's 54 and Suresh Raina's blistering 40 off 19 balls took India to 187 for eight against England in the rain-hit second One-day International at the Rose Bowl here Tuesday.

Parthiv Patel (28) got India off to a flying start and Rahul Dravid (32) provided good support to Rahane, who scored his maiden fifty in One-day Internationals.

Raina's cameo towards the end propelled the visitors to a formidable total.

Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann proved expensive but ended up with three wickets each.

The match started five hours after the scheduled 2 pm local time start with intermittent showers reducing the match to a 23-over contest per side.

Rahane has been a revelation on the tour and once again he showed the hunger to perform at the highest level. The Mumbai batsman looked at ease against the quicker bowlers and pierced the field beautifully while playing the spinners.

His innings saw five exquisite boundaries and a massive six over square leg off a Stuart Broad delivery.

The 79-run partnership between Rahane and Dravid laid the foundation for a big score and later Raina came to the party with some brutal hitting. The southpaw hit three huge sixes and as many fours before getting caught at deep square while trying to hit another one out of the park.
