Rahul Gandhi takes Charge of his new Position

Rahul Gandhi
Tuesday was a big day for Rahul Gandhi. A day after the Congress appointed Rahul Gandhi as the new party general secretary; the Amethi MP attended office followed by his mother and party president Sonia Gandhi.

But Rahul is not likely to assume duties at once because he is going to New York with his mother. Sonia Gandhi will lecture the UN General Assembly on October 2, to honor the International Day of Non-Violence.

Rahul was virtually chocked up by supporters, and it becomes difficult for the SPG responsible for his personal safety to tackle.

His day included a visit to his new office and a meeting with fellow workers, a few of whom have worked even with his granny.

Margaret Alva, General Secretary, Congress, said, “I’ve worked with 3 generations of the family and it is nice to see young faces taking over the responsibility. We must remember that the electorate is very young.”

Rahul called on the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to accept their best wishes.

He also met a host of leaders from the Youth Congress and NSUI, groups he is currently responsible for.

Alka Lamba, Secretary, AICC, said, “He will not prove the youngsters wrong.”

Rahul isn’t likely to take charge immediately as he will be accompanying his mother to New York.

Requests have started pouring in from party units across the country for Rahul to address youth rallies.
