Union Telecom Minister, Mr. A Raja, on Saturday said that he never tried to influence the judiciary - thereby dismissing the charges leveled by AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa regarding his involvement in the mark sheet forgery case.  

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa had earlier named Mr. Raje for influencing a Madras High Court judge, Justice R Reghupathy, who, in the open court, said that a union minister had approached him in the anticipatory bail case of Dr Krishnamurthy and his son S Kiruba Sridhar.  

However, the judge had declined to divulge the name of the minister, which was later named by AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa. She divulged the identity of the doctor who hails from Raja's native town, Perambalur, and also that Mr. Raje has his law office in the doctor’s building.

Mr. Raje, who was in the city for the releasing a tele-film ‘Visaranai Commission’, said that the charges against him are baseless and politically motivated to malign his image. He declined to accept any relationship with Krishnamurthy, and tried to evade questions about taking any legal action against AIADMK supremo.
