Balochistan’s grievances need quick redress: GovernorKarachi, Apr 29: Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi today said that the government would constitute a new inquiry tribunal into the Turbat killings which would be acceptable to Baloch nationalist parties, and underscored the need for expeditiously resolving the problems underlying the unrest in the province.

Talking to journalists, Magsi said the situation could worsen if the issues were not promptly and amicably resolved.

Pak Army says over 50 Taliban killed in BunerIslamabad, Apr. 29: Pakistan military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas on Wednesday told a press conference here that over 50 Taliban militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation in Buner.

Major General Abbas also confirmed the death of one security official and the rescue of 18 Frontier Corps personnel.

He said that the army, which has launched both ground and aerial offensives, is facing stiff resistance in Ambela as the militants have taken people hostage and are using them as human shields.

PakistanIslamabad - Special forces on Wednesday secured a key town in an area of restive north-west Pakistan that was captured last week by militants as helicopters dropped troops to expand the push against the Taliban there, the military said. The rapid-deployment tactic came a day after ground forces, backed by helicopter gunships and jet aircraft, launched an offensive in the Buner Valley to flush out the rebels.

At least 50 Taliban fighters have been killed in the first two days of the operation, army spokesman Athar Abbas said.

TNSM refuses to resume talks with government without Sufi MohammadIslamabad, Apr. 29: The Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Mohammadi (TNSM) has refused to resume talks with the government over the issue of the Swat peace deal in the absence of its chief Sufi Mohammad.

Sufi Mohammad has been missing since Sunday and there is no report about his whereabouts.

The TNSM’s deputy chief, Mohammad Alam, said he has no idea about where Mohammad was.

HRCP says Musharraf’s claim on missing persons ‘absolutely untenable’
