Thousands of Iraqis protest anniversary of US occupation Baghdad  - Thousands of people protested the sixth anniversary of the US-led occupation of Iraq in central Baghdad on Thursday.

Protesters affiliated with firebrand Shiite cleric Moqtada al- Sadr's movement braved driving rain to fill the streets of downtown Baghdad to mark the sixth anniversary of the fall of Baghdad to US- led troops.

Protesters waved Iraqi flags and chanted "No, no to America," and "No, no to occupation" on Thursday.

At least seven dead in Kadhimiya's second blast in two days Baghdad - A car bomb exploded on Wednesday in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad district, killing at least seven people and wounding 23, al-Arabiya news channel reported.

The bombing is the second within two days in the same district. It took place near the holy Shiite shrine of Imam Mussa al-Kadhim.

On Tuesday a bomb exploded near the shrine killing eight people and wounding 18.

Tuesday's bomb coincided with a surprise visit to Iraq by US President Barack Obama and came a day after a string of seven bomb attacks.

Suicide car bomber kills Iraqi policeman in Falluja Baghdad - A man detonated explosives packed in his car as he approached a checkpoint in Falluja Tuesday, killing an Iraqi security officer and wounding nine other people, police said.

Falluja, some 70 kilometres west of Baghdad, was the site of intense fighting between US forces and Sunni insurgents, but has been quiet in recent months, thanks in part to the cooperation of Sunni militias known as "Awakening Councils" that joined with US and Iraqi authorities to fight insurgents there.

ROUNDUP: Seven bombs kill at least 42 in Baghdad and MosulBaghdad/Mosul  - Six consecutive blasts targeting predominantly Shiite neigbhourhoods of Baghdad killed at least 36 people and wounded more than 100 more on Monday, police and local media said.

The attacks, which coincided with the latest in a near-daily string of deadly bomb attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, came two weeks after a car bomb killed 26 people in a market in a predominantly Shiite al-Shaab neighbourhood of Baghdad, and a week after Sunni militiamen clashed with Iraqi security forces in a the Baghdad slum of Fadhil.

At least 10 people killed in four bombs in Baghdad Baghdad  - At least 10 people were killed Monday and 45 were injured as four bombs rocked separate locations in Baghdad, television reports said.

Iraq's al-Iraqia channel said four were killed and 15 were injured in a blast in the bustling al-Alawi commercial district in central Baghdad.

Two further bombings occurred in Shiite-dominated suburbs, while the fourth attack involved a car bomb in al-Naria district, in south- eastern Baghdad, targeting an official of the Interior Ministry.
