Washington/Ottawa - US President Barack Obama arrived Thursday in Ottawa on his first foreign visit, where he was greeted at the airport by Governor General Michaelle Jean.
The pair made a striking image, bringing home the message of racial change in North America, as both leaders are black.
Obama was to travel to Parliament Hill, where he is to be greeted in the rotunda by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Amman - Jordan and Canada on Tuesday signed an agreement for cooperation in the sphere of peaceful uses of the nuclear energy, president of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) Khalid Toukan said.
The accord concluded between the JAEC and the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) is a follow-up for the memorandum of standing that was signed between the two sides in June, he added.
"Under the agreement, the AECL will extend all possible assistance to Jordan in the areas of building nuclear reactors for peaceful uses such as electricity generation and water desalination as well as nuclear security, planning of nuclear radiation and protection of environment," Toukan said.

In what seems to be a case of polygamy under wraps, the infamous bigamist Oliver Killeen, 71, turned himself in to the police yesterday.
According to police, Killen married a number of women in Ontario and other parts of the world, including Europe, but never got legally divorced from the prior spouse for any of the unions.
He was charged with a single count of bigamy and released on a promise to appear in court next month.
Ottawa (Canada), Feb. 13 : Canada''s Industry Minister Tony Clement will be visiting India between February 14 and 19.
According to a media release issued by the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi, Clement will be travelling to New Delhi and Mumbai.
While in India, Clement will meet with senior government officials and representatives from the business community to promote commerce, tourism and investment.
Last month federal government announced, in its budget, the formation of the Canadian Secured Credit Facility under which Ottawa will purchase up to $12 billion in securities from financial institutions including banks.
The securities would be supported by loans and leases on vehicles and equipment. This would enable the automakers to offer financing to more consumers and dealers.
This news comes as the much needed relief to the automobile industry scorched by recession. But they seem to be getting much too impatient to wait till June.
