Shimla, Aug 8 (ANI): Apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh are worried about their crop being affected by the leaf drop disease this year.

The ''Marsonina'' disease is bound to have an adverse affect on apple production in rural Shimla.

The dropping of the leaves is because of an infection caused by a fungus called ''Marsonina''. The fungus mainly attacks densely forested orchards and moisture and
humidity act as catalysts.

About 20 per cent of the crop has already been damaged in the middle and the higher belts.

Bilaspur, Aug 4: Devotees resumed trekking to Naina Devi temple on Sunday midnight even as the death toll in the worst-ever temple tragedy touches 146 and 129 bodies have been identified so far.

Thirty children and 38 women were among those killed in the stampede that was apparently sparked off by rumours of a landslide at the hill shrine in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.

Officials said most of the people died of suffocation as tens of thousands of pilgrims had converged at the shrine, located about 165 kms from Shimla, to celebrate the nine-day Shravan Navratra festival.

Shimla, August 3: The death toll in Naina Devi temple stamped in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh has risen to 140.

New Delhi - At least 123 Hindu worshippers were killed and 48 injured in a stampede at a shrine in India's northern state of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, officials said.

Shimla, Aug 3: At least 80 people were killed and over 100 were injured, when a stampede occurred at the famous Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.

Dharamsala, July 24 : Five Non-Governmental organizations (NGO) here have joined hands for the Tibetan freedom movement and have decided to launch an all-out struggle against a second cultural revolution in Tibet after the Olympics.

The five NGOs - the Tibetan Youth Congress, the Students For Free Tibet, the National Democratic Party of Tibet, the GU-CHU-SUM and the Tibetan Women Association - have initiated a movement titled ''Tibetan People''s uprising Movement (TPUM)'' through which they will carry out their freedom struggle. 

B Tsering, President, Tibetan Women Association said that their forthcoming actions will define their strategic preparations made ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
