Karachi, Aug. 18 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s announcement on Monday that he was resigning from his office, has strengthened the country’s currency and turned the stock market bullish.
According to The News, the Pakistani rupee witnessed an improvement of Rs. 1.40 against the dollar, while the Karachi Stock Exchange benchmark KSE-100 crossed the
10,700 level. The major Index registered a gain of more than 450 points.
KSE members welcomed the resignation by the President, saying the step would put to an end the ongoing confrontation in the country.
Karachi, Aug. 17 : Former Sindh Chief Minister Ghous Ali Shah touched down at Karachi Airport on Sunday morning, returning to Pakistan after seven years in exile.
Shah entered politics as a student. As a lawyer, he practiced in Khairpur and Karachi. He remained as President of Khairpur Bar Association for long period of time. He became as a judge of Sindh High Court during the 1980.
He was given the portfolio of several ministries in Sindh government during 1980s and served as a Chief Minister of Sindh during 1985-88. Shah is considered to be the close ally of Nawaz Sharif, a friend of Hakim Ali Zardari and Pir Pigara.

Karachi - Pakistan's ruling coalition on Wednesday dealt another blow to embattled President Pervez Musharraf as a third provincial assembly demanded his impeachment.
The 168-member assembly of the southern province of Sindh unanimously passed a resolution that demanded a vote of confidence on Musharraf in the presidential electoral college or his resignation. If neither happens, the president should be impeached by Parliament, it said.
The legislators chanted slogans of "Go, Musharraf, go!" during the session.
Karachi - Pakistan stocks roared upwards Monday by 2.7 per cent despite political upheaval as local institutions continued heavy buying to prop up depressed prices, traders said.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 262 points to close at 10,171 after trading below 10,000 for most of the last week.
