Lucknow, Oct 13 : The Allahabad High Court today stayed the Uttar Pradesh Government’s order stalling the rail coach project in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.
The High Court today heard the writ petition filed by the Centre challenging the order of the Mayawati Government cancelling the allotment of land for the project in Rae Bareli, which is Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency.
The Court’s Lucknow bench heard the writ moved by Union of India through Secretary, Railway Board, Ministry of Railways and two others.
Lucknow, Oct 9 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Thursday launched 158 development projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore in Lucknow during a function, in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Mayawati, while addressing a gathering on the second death anniversary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram, said "He (Kanshi Ram) fought for the poor and downtrodden in UP. Due to his attempts I could become the Chief Minister for the fourth time."
The body of software and IT services, Assocham said that India can witness a jump in E-shopping for the coming festival season in India. The E-shopping would grow by 180 percent and is expected to touch Rs 15,000 crore marks during Dusshera and Diwali in the metros and large towns like Lucknow and Chandigarh.
Lucknow, Sept 23: Urging the youth of the nation to come forward to fight terrorism, President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday said terrorism and sectarian hatred have no place in the society as it is against development.
President Patil received the D. Lit (Honoris Causa) conferred by Lucknow University at a special convocation in Lucknow.
"Terrorism and communal hatred are enemies of development, stability and a peaceful society," she said in her convocation address.
Lucknow, Sept. 19 : President Pratibha Patil will be the chief guest at a special convocation of the Lucknow University on September 23.
The 90-minute event will see the President being honoured with honorary D. Litt degree. She will also felicitate 28 toppers in undergraduate with gold medals.
Patil will be the third President to visit Lucknow University after V V Giri and Giani Zail Singh. President Shankar Dayal Sharma was also an alumnus of the university.
