Five Malegaon blast case suspects sent to judicial custody

Nasik (Maharashtra), Nov. 11: A Nasik court on Monday sent five of the total nine suspects arrested in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast case to judicial custody till November 17.

Ramesh Shivji Upadhyay, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Eknath Rahirkar, Rakesh Dattatreya Dhawde and Jagdish Chintaman Mhatre were produced before the court on the expiry of their police custody.

An Indian army officer Lieutenant-Colonel Srikant Prasad Purohit, who was arrested on November 5, will be produced in court on November 15.

The officer is accused of helping Hindu militants with bomb-making and other logistics in the attack in the Muslim-dominated towns of Malegaon and Modasa in September.

Bill Gates meets sex workers in Pune

Bill Gates meets sex workers in PunePune (Maharashtra), Nov 7: Microsoft founder and co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, visited sex workers in Pune.

Gates along with his wife Melinda visited the red light area of Budhwar Peth in Pune to create awareness amongst the sex workers regarding AIDS on Thursday.

The purpose of Bill Gates'' visit to the area was also to review two projects, funded by the foundation, on prevention of sexually transmitted infection.

Railways to decide later on fresh exam in Mumbai

It's good news for those students who suffered a lot in Mumbai while appearing for Railway Recruitment Board examinations.

The Railway Recruitment Board of Mumbai has decided to hold re-examination for students affected by vandalism of Maharastra Navnirman Samiti activists.

According to sources, re-examination will be held in only two centers of Mumbai. Those two centers had been affected by the anti-social elements who had torn up answer sheets, denying the candidates from taking the examination. The examination in other 19 centers were had a regular exam, said a Railway official.

The board had held the examinations at 145 centers in Mumbai, 136 in Nagpur and 29 centers in Sholapur.

A local court in Maharashtra’s Nasik remanded Purohit to police custody till November 15 and also approved the conducting of narco analysis test on him.
