Keen fight for Malaysian Indian Congress postsKuala Lumpur, Apr 30 : The Malaysian Indian Congress is gripped by election fever, with different factions of the party holding their meetings to finalise their strategy over the next fortnight.

Although most of the major factions have retained their incumbents, there was keen competition for the posts of delegates who will be eligible to vote for the Deputy President, three vice-presidents and 23 central working committee posts in the MIC general assembly in September.

Malay Indians agitated over selling of ASM unitsPutrajaya, Apr 29 : Malay Indians are reportedly agitated over the unexpected sale of Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) units, which were specially allotted to their community.

According to The Star, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department S. K Devamany accepted that he has received at least 60 calls since last Monday from agitated Indians.

According to the callers, the banks had informed them that the units allocated to the respective branches had been sold out.

‘Ghost’ pays second visit to spooked Malay schoolgirls

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 29 : It was certainly a case of spooky return when a ghostly apparition that scared the wits out of some 50 schoolgirls in Langgar, Malaysia on April 26, made a second appearance in the premises yesterday.

Another girls from Forms One to Four of SMK Langgar became frantic after they claimed they saw the apparition in the school canteen at 9.30am.

In an immediate reaction, State Education director Shahidan Abdul Rahman advised those affected by the incidents to stay home.

"We are still investigating the matter and I advise those still disturbed by the incidents to stay home," The New Strait Times Online quoted him as saying.

Sole Malay Sikh orphanage gets RM 40, 000 grant

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 29 : The sole orphanage for Malay Sikh kids has received a donation of RM 40,000 from The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers, which is also known as Bakti, and from Malaysian Punjabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Senator Daljit Singh.

Gurupuri currently depends on donations from well-wishers.

Bakti president Rosmah Mansor said the association would also help to provide meal allowances for children from the Social Welfare Department.

The Star online quoted Rosmah, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, as saying: "If there are other requests, we will definitely consider helping out as well."

Hindraf ready for talks with PM over condition of Malay IndiansKlang, Apr 27: Hindu Right Action Force leader P. Waythamoorthy wants to have a dialogue over the condition of Indians living in Malaysia with Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

Waythamoorthy, who is in self-exile in London, said he is prepared to meet Najib to outline the grouses that had pushed Hindraf to mobilise members of the Indian community to a protest rally on November 25, 2007.
