Pakistan Occupied Kashmir gets new Prime Minister

Muzaffarabad, Jan 7 : The newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), Sardar Yaqub, took oath of office.

POK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan administered the oath on Tuesday, the Online reported.

Former POK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed was removed from office in a no-confidence vote amid allegations of corruption and nepotism; the Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.

Attique received only 17 votes against 31 in favour of Yaqub, they added.

Attique accused the government in Islamabad of engineering his ouster.

Attique's supporters chanted anti-Zardari slogans outside the legislative assembly in Muzaffarabad.

Muzaffarabad, Dec 8: Wanted Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander, Zakiur Rehman Lakhwi has reportedly been arrested by Pakistani army personnel on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad, the Dawn reports.

Muzaffarabad/Islamabad, Dec. 8 : Pakistani security forces have launched a ‘quiet’ crackdown on activists affiliated with the Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the political wing of the banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba on the Pakistan side of Kashmir as well as in other parts of the country.

According to the Dawn, in Muzaffarabad, a major army operation was under way in the city suburbs on Sunday against a site being used by the Jamaat-ud-Dawa, which is headed by Hafiz Mohammad Saeed.

Sources told the paper that more than 20 members of the banned organisation and Lashkar-i-Toiba’s ‘commander’ Zakiur Rehman Lakhwi had been arrested.

There are reports that similar actions are planned in some cities and towns of Punjab.
