Nepali Congress unhappy with UNMIN roleKathmandu, Dec12 : Nepali Congress today expressed dissatisfaction over the role played by United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN).

During a meeting with UNMIN chief Ian Martin, here, Nepali Congress leaders complained that monitoring of the Maoist army camps has not been effective and that UNMIN failed to check the violent activities involving the members of the People''s Liberation Army (PLA).

"The PLA men went out of their camps and engaged in violent activities a number of times," they added.

Nepal bus accident kills 22

Kathmandu - At least 22 people, among them schoolchildren, were killed and dozens more injured after an overcrowded bus fell into a river in western Nepal, police said Friday.

Police said the bus plunged into Narayani River after smashing into the guard rail of a bridge while trying to overtake a tractor on Thursday night in Nawalparasi district, about 200 kilometres west of the capital Kathmandu.

Police said at least 22 people were killed and more than 60 others were inured in the accident. The bus was carrying students and teachers who were returning home after a picnic in the nearby town of Butwal.

Many of the victims died after being trapped in the mangled wreckage of the bus.

Indo-Nepal border movement going unchecked

Sonouli Border (UP), Dec 10: Despite the frequency of terror attacks in India, security along the Indo-Nepal border has largely gone unchecked.

Residents living in the Sonouli area along Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh say they are worried as there is no mechanism at the border to screen people crossing over into India.

Even after having so many policemen, the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB), the custom and immigration check posts in the Indian area, tourists from Nepal sitting inside a bus can enter without being checked.

"We are ready to have luggage checked, but these security people demand money. When we ask them to just do their duty, they start abusing us," claimed Anwar Ali, a tourist.

Nepal asks its citizens to carry I-Cards visiting IndiaNepal has asked all citizens travelling to India to carry documents that could verify their identities.

In a press release Monday, the Nepali foreign ministry urged its citizens planning to travel to India to carry documents like passports, citizenship certificates or driving licenses.

"After recent incidents in India, the Indian administration has tightened the internal security," read the statement, referring to the Mumbai attacks.
