The paintings, "Farmhouse" and "Farm Buildings by a Stream," were both signed, according to the online catalogue, which showed them in black and white. They dated from 1914. The auctioneer in Nuremberg, Herbert Weidler, could not be reached for comment.

Christine Haderthauer, minister of family affairs in the German state of Bavaria, attacked the EU guidelines as too lax, saying they permitted small amounts of dangerous substances. She called for the substances to be banned outright.

Safety is a key issue at the six-day fair which ends this Tuesday. The toy trade is dominated by Chinese manufacturers.

Williamson loses German case against Swedish TV

He gave the interview year in Zaitzkofen, Germany to a Swedish television company, Sveriges Television AB.

His lawyers demanded an urgent injunction from the Nuremberg and Fuerth state court to make the TV company remove the video sequence from its web page and cease licensing the interview for worldwide use, a court spokesman said.

The television series, which went on air in Japan in 2007, started several weeks ago in German on Cartoon Network Deutschland, a pay-TV channel. Rights holder CTM said Thursday it expected free-to-air broadcasting of Bakugan on the Tele 5 channel to begin next month.
