One of the leading literature events of the Indian sub-continent, the fourth DSC Jaipur Literature Festival kicked off in a grand style with the inauguration by the Governor of Rajasthan, S K Singh.

Since its beginning, the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival has been hosted by the Diggi Palace Hotel. In order to celebrate the festival opening, the whole palace was packed with an enthusiastic crowd.

New Delhi, Jan 20 : In a move to assure its accuracy for future battles, the Army, on Tuesday, tested the land-attack version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile near Pokhran in Rajasthan.

The test was declared as successful, having met all the parameters.

Earlier, on December 18, an air-breathing missile, with a strike range of 290-km, was tested for the first time from a vertical launcher fitted on a moving warship in the Bay of Bengal.

The government inducted the first battery of the BrahMos land-attack cruise missile (LACM) in July 2007.

Udaipur (Rajasthan), Jan. 18 : A group of 23 foreign and domestic tourists enjoyed the spectacular view of India''s northwestern desert state Rajasthan on a luxury train ''Royal Rajasthan on Wheels'' on its maiden run.

''Royal Rajasthan on Wheels,'' a joint venture of Indian Railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) was flagged off from national capital New Delhi on January 11.

An epitome of luxury ''Royal Rajasthan on Wheels'' has two resto-cum-bars, which offer lavish Indian cuisines with blended wines.

Bikaner, Jan. 11 : Tourists visiting the Bikaner city of Rajasthan are having a great time at the ongoing camel fair here, as they are getting a chance to watch the ships of the desert performing several acts they are generally not known for. 

The three-day annual camel fair kicked off in Bikaner on Saturday (Jan. 10). It began with procession of beautifully ornamented camels heading towards the open sand grounds on the outskirts of Bikaner city. 

Rajasthani folk dances and music have added to the appeal of annual fair.

Indian missile scientists successfully test fired the third generation hit-to-kill anti-tank missile, Nag, at Pokhran test range in Rajasthan on Friday.

This marks the first in a series of winter trials to be conducted by the Army till this month-end. The winter trials would be followed by summer trials.

In his remarks, Nag's Progra Director and Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) Director P. Venugopalan said, “The trial was 100 percent success.”
