The Gunners secured a record 42.5 million pounds deal for the German on transfer deadline day which has left Ronaldo frustrated.

"The sale of Ozil is very bad news for me," Ronaldo was quoted as saying in Spanish paper AS.

"He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal. I'm angry about Ozil leaving."

Spain and Real Madrid defender said, "It's obvious that he is a special team-mate and friend."

Barcelona win Spanish Super Cup

The fourth-time world player, Lionel Messi, played Wednesday evening, having been recovering from a thigh bruise that prevented him from the Malaga game Sunday.

Spain registers decrease in house sales

House-salesMadrid, Aug 13 : House sales in Spain fell by 5.5 percent in June 2013 compared to a year ago, the National Institute of Statistics (or INE) said.

The INE said 23,966 houses were sold in June, reflecting a month-on-month fall of 8.6 percent, reported Xinhua.

New house purchases accounted for 43 percent of all sales, 13.7 percent less compared to last year and a 10.9 percent decrease on a monthly basis.

A total of 13,665 resold houses were purchased, representing 57 percent of all transactions.

Spain's economy grows

The Spanish economy "is hitting bottom in 2013" with a drop in the gross domestic product of 1.4 percent and will begin a moderate recovery in 2014, achieving growth of 0.90 percent, the bank said in its "Situacion España" report on the July-September period.

Employment rose by 149,000 to 16.78 million in the April-June period, with the labor force participation rate at 59.54 percent, the Labor Force Survey said.

The drop in unemployment was the biggest since 2008, comparing the employment trend in the second quarter of each of the five previous years.

Sales of new houses fell by 10.3 percent in May to a total of 11,561, while purchases of second-hand houses increased by 2.3 percent to a total of 14,661 sales, reported Xinhua.

Purchases of non-subsidized houses represented 90.1 percent of the total, with its sales decreasing by 2 percent to a total of 23,881 operations.

Speaking at the end of a weekly Cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Cristobal Montoro Friday said 3.65 billion euros per year would be raised by limiting the amount large companies can deduct for securities portfolio losses, while another 700 million euros would come from higher taxes on alcohol and tobacco and 340 million euros from a new tax on fluorinated gases.

Bilbao confirms Valverde appointment
