Rajasthan Home Minister tests positive for swine flu

Udaipur, (Rajasthan), Feb. 3 - Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday tested positive for swine flu and is recuperating in his residence.

On Sunday evening, Gulab Chand Kataria complained of cold, cough, bad throat, fever. The next day he was tested for the H1N1 virus and by evening it was known that the test report was positive.

"There is nothing serious. Medicines have been given to him, his family members and those who came in contact with him. Kataria has also been advised to be in isolation," Dr. Mahesh Dave said.

According to reports, ten more people succumbed to swine flu in Rajasthan counting the death toll to 49 this year.

Modi is scheduled to speak at the BJP Janjaati Morcha Sammelan, where he is expected to be accompanied by state party president Vasundhara Raje.

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed two rallies in poll-bound Rajasthan.

Divya-Mothers-Milk-BankUdaipur (Rajasthan), June 1 : This bank is not about money, just goodwill. India's fourth mother's milk bank in this Rajasthan town is saving the lives of frail or critically ill infants whose biological mothers are unable to feed them for a variety of reasons.

The Divya Mothers Milk Bank (DMMB) in Udaipur, 400 km from state capital Jaipur, has provided 173 units of mother's milk in about two months to infants in immediate need as they have been hospitalized with life threatening diseases or are suffering from other problems.

Each unit contains 30 ml of mother's milk.

Udaipur, Jan 16 - Popular television actor Ram Kapoor, who is sporting a new fit look after losing 11 kg, says he plays a mean and hateful person in his first mainstream Bollywood film "Karthik Calling Karthik" which also stars Farhan Akhtar.

"In 'Karthik Calling Karthik', I play the biggest problem in Farhan's life. I play a bastard in the film - a mean, obnoxious, hateful person... I can't disclose anything beyond this," Kapoor told IANS.

The city's five lakes -- Udai Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Rajsamand Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Jaisamand Lake-- are all rain-fed. They are normally water-filled, but this year's dry season has taken its toll.

Amitabh Bachchan visits a temple in RajasthanUdaipur, Nov 9 : Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan visited the famous Shrinathji temple in Udaipur in Rajasthan for the first time after recovering from recent illness on Sunday.

His wife Jaya Bachchan, his friend and politician Amar Singh, and industrialist Anil Ambani accompanied him.

Amitabh, who is recuperating from his illness, arrived in Udaipur on Tuesday.

He was discharged from hospital on October 17, almost a week after he was admitted to a Mumbai hospital.

Udaipur hotelier claims to have seen Jaipur Blast’ suspected terrorist

Udaipur, May 16 : Rajasthan police questioned a Udaipur based SamorBagh restaurant owner Kamal Joshi today who claimed to have seen one of the suspected terrorists, whose sketch was released by the police.

Joshi told the police on Friday that a person resembling the sketch, released on Thursday night, was seen in his restaurant on Sunday evening. The man was accompanied by a young woman and both of them came to the restaurant at about 4 pm on Sunday.

He further said the woman entered the restaurant wearing a saree but changed into a salwar kameez before leaving with the man, Joshi said, according to the police.

They did not take anything in the restaurant, he said.

Manmohan slams Left Front govt in Tripura for slow development

Udaipur (Tripura), Feb 19 :CPI (M) Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today criticised the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Front government in Tripura for slow development.

Campaigning for the February 23 State Assembly election in Udaipur in South Tripura District, Dr Singh claimed that the Congress Party was serious about peace and development of North-eastern states.

Criticising the CPI-M led Government, Manmohan Singh said that the Centre is giving adequate funds to the State, but development in Tripura did not take place as expected.

Students get lessons in handling snakes in Udaipur

Udaipur (Rajasthan), Sept 23 : Students in Udaipur are being taught how to handle snakes by a snake catcher with an aim to protect these reptiles.
The credit for the mass awareness goes to snake catcher Chaman Singh.

Students are learning to handle and play with snakes with the objective of dispelling misconceptions about reptiles.
