Rahul Gandhi to begin three-day visit to Uttarakhand todayDehradun, Oct 20 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will begin his three-day visit to Uttarakhand from today.

The tour is being held to attract youths to the party, and also to restructure the National Students Union Of India (NSUI) and the Youth Congress by experimenting with internal elections.

During his visit, Rahul will participate in a convention of girl students at Ramnagar where he will answers to the girl students questions.

New Tehri town residents cry foul over govt.’s ‘forgetful’ attitude

Uttarakhand New Tehri (Uttarakhand), Oct. 14 : Residents of New Tehri town, who were displaced from their villages in Tehri area to settle at a new habitat consequent to the Tehri Dam project, are today compelled to lead a dejected life.

They say the government had not fulfilled its promises and the promised New Tehri Town overlooking a lake is yet to come up.

A colossal sum of 500 crores of rupees had also been earmarked towards fulfilling the promises.

Tube Investment Arm To Pump Over Rs 80 Crore In Uttarakhand

TIDC India, a unit of Tube Investments of India (TII), is planning to invest Tube Investment Arm To Pump Over Rs 80 Crore In Uttarakhand over Rs 80 crore in Uttarakhand for setting up automotive chain, tubes and metal form plants. 

The company had already acquired 23 acres for the proposed plant. The new facility, spread over an area of 72,000 sq. ft., will have a capacity to manufacture 500,000 feet of drive and timing chains.

The Murugappa Group intends to invest Rs 33 crore in the automotive chain plant.

Uttarakhand Kaladungi (Kumon) Uttarakhand, Sep. 23 : A majority of residents in the rural Kumaon region of Uttarakhand continue to use the vintage water-powered mills for grinding purposes.

In the remote population in Kaladungi and other areas in Kumaon region people don’t want to give up the water powered mills.

The British, in the late 19th century, are known to have originally introduced water-powered mill here. Since then residents have found it easy for everyone to get the wheat grinded into flour.

Wipro Infotech Opens Manufacturing Unit In Uttarakhand

Wipro Infotech Opens Manufacturing Unit In UttarakhandWipro Infotech, the peripherals manufacturing subsidiary of Wipro, has opened its second manufacturing unit at Kotdwar in Uttarakhand.

Covering 5.8 acres of land at the foothills of the Himalayas, the proposed unit will produce servers, storage, notebooks, desktops and allied IT electronics products.

According to the source, the plant is equipped with a manufacturing capacity of approximately 1000 machines a day.

The company however did not divulge the investment in this project.
