'Regretful' Warner admits 'went too far' with 'poor, weak' comments on 'stressed' Trott

David WarnerLondon, Nov 26 - Australian batsman David Warner has admitted that he 'went too far' while describing his English counterpart Jonathan Trott as 'poor and weak' during the first Ashes Test, which was won by Australia.

Warner made his statement it was announced Trott, who scored only 19 runs in the match as England crumbled to a 381-run defeat, had left his side's Ashes tour with a long-standing stress-related condition.

According to the BBC, Warner said that he had made those comments for a reason as the bounce and pace got to England again on the final day of the Ashes opener, adding that even though it was Ashes cricket, he believes he went too far with his comments.

Slamming Warner, England captain Alastair Cook had accused him of being 'disrespectful' while Trott's England teammates Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann, Australian coach Darren Lehmann and former players Steve Harmison and Luke Sutton have all tweeted their support for the player. (ANI)
