Reliance Communications along with Research in Motion (RIM) has launched the country's first prepaid Blackberry services on both GSM and CDMA models.

Before Reliance, Blackberry services are only available across the country on postpaid connections of Vodafone Essar and Bharti Airtel.

The company has rolled out two tariff plans for Blackberry Services, one Rs 1,299 and another plan of Rs 1,599. Under both the plans, Reliance to Reliance mobile local and intra-circle calls are free.

In Plan 1,299 call rate vary from 49 paise to 99 paise for local and STD calls from Rcom to other networks while, the international calls vary from Rs 6.90 a minute to Rs 40 a minute depending on the nation.

Reliance Communication said in a release that the latest launched service is first of its kind 'pay as you use' pricing model in India, which is in line with company’s tactic to broaden BlackBerry services to consumers, who are looking for cost-effective alternatives, flexibility and control over their expenses for wireless services.

The latest move is expected to extend the reach of Blackberry smartphones to over 200 million prepaid users in India.
