RIL unit acquires 38.5% Stake in COMPSExtramarks Education A unit of the Mukesh Ambani-run Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has acquired 38.5% stake in COMPSExtramarks Education Private Limited, according to the company.

Reliance Strategic Investments made the fresh investment into the firm. Reliance Strategic Investments is a affliate of a group subsidiary, Infotel Broadband Services. Reliance Industries had acquired 95% stake in Infotel Broadband for Rs 4,800 crore last year and had converted it into one of its subsidiary.

Extramarks Education was founded by Atul Kulshrestha in 2007 and it is involved in promoting modern education tools. It offers interactive learning resources to schools, teachers and students through digital distribution.

The company provides school study programmes for classes, including model test papers, Q&A related to specific course material, mindmaps, live virtual classes for the students from class 6th to 12th across the country.

"The investment in Extramarks has been made through an affiliate company Reliance Strategic Investments Ltd.," Reliance said in a statement.

Infotel Broadband is the only firm in the country to have won broadband spectrum in all 22 circles. It will launch high speed Internet services or broadband wireless access services (BWA) by the end of this year.
