Roger Federer to make injury return in IPTL

Johannesburg [South Africa], Nov. 29 : Seventeen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, who suffered from a knee injury in July, will make his return in Asia next month after his participation was confirmed in the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL).

In July, Federer ruled himself out of the rest of the season to recover fully from his injury, which got aggravated during his semifinal defeat to Milos Raonic in Wimbledon.

However, since the Spanish maestro has turned 35, there are question marks over how longer will he continue to compete.

Federer will prepare for January's Hopman Cup by representing the Indian Aces in the IPTL, reported Sport24.

IPTL, which is seen as tennis's answer to cricket's T20 format, takes place in Japan, Singapore and India between December 2 and 11, with the Swiss Maestro being the most high-profile men's player taking part in the event.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion would be joined in the Indian Aces line-up by players like Feliciano Lopez and Eugenie Bouchard. (ANI)
