Samsung dismisses suggestions that Galaxy S4 is designed to fool tests

Samsung dismisses suggestions that Galaxy S4 is designed to fool testsSouth Korean electronics giant, Samsung has dismissed allegations that it has deliberately designed the new Galaxy S4 chip to trick performance tests to get favourable reviews.

Some researchers showed that the smartphone displayed higher graphics processing speed when it was being tested by testing software than with advanced games. Samsung said that the two situations returned different scores but dismissed allegations that chip is designed din a way to trick tests. There are allegations that chip's graphics processing unit was running 11 per cent faster  when running Android and 3D graphics testing programs than when it was running advanced games.

The company said that it designed the smartphone in a way that the user avoid fault while using the device. The tests carried out on the device included Samsung-designed Exynos 5 Octa chip that is being used in the Galaxy S4's version for the South Korean market and other global markets. The device made for the US and UK market features alternative chip made by Qualcomm.

The company has responded by saying that, "Under ordinary conditions, the Galaxy S4 has been designed to allow a maximum GPU frequency of 533MHz. However, the maximum GPU frequency is lowered to 480MHz for certain gaming apps that may cause an overload, when they are used for a prolonged period of time in full-screen mode."
