Samsung phones to have user interface in 9 Indian languages

Samsung-phonesNew Delhi, Aug 13 : Samsung Electronics Tuesday introduced nine Indian languages for its smart phones and tablet users in the country. The languages are Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati.

The company plans to enhance the availability of regional language content to its more affordable smart phone range starting with Galaxy Star within this month. The number of languages being offered will also be increased, it said in a statement.

For the time being, the languages will be supported on its Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S4 and Tab 3.

“We clearly sense a need and a demand amongst users to communicate in local languages using their mobile devices. We will not only work with content providers towards making more regional language content available, but we will develop the eco-system by working with app developers so that more Indian consumers can enjoy their mobile experience in their own language,” Vineet Taneja, Country Head, Samsung Mobile and IT, Samsung India said.

Another four languages will be introduced in the next couple of months in the basket, a Samsung spokesperson said, adding that the company plans to cover all the Indian languages in the long-run.(IANS)
