SC to hear RIL-RNRL case on July 20

SC to hear RIL-RNRL case on July 20The Supreme Court Bench, comprising Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice J. M. Panchal, has sent a notice to Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries (RIL) and Anil Ambani-run Reliance Natural Resources (RNRL), in response to their appeal against the orders of the Bombay High Court regarding gas supply.

The bench also sent a fresh notice to the central government and fixed the next date of hearing as July 20.

Reliance Industries is not happy with the Court's orders to supply 28 million standard cubic feet a day of gas, at $2.34 per mBtu of gas from the Dadri power plant, and said that the Bombay High Court missed three terms including quantity, tenure and price of gas supply while delivering the judgment. The company wanted scrap of order dated June 15 in the Special Leave petition, and asked for stay on its operations.

Similarly, RNRL condemned RIL for consistent and continued conduct of backing out from its earlier promises to supply gas as per terms of the MoU. The company urged the court to direct RIL to restrain supply of gas to any other firm than RNRL.
