Sony BRAVIA grosses as a leader in the Flat Panel Display TV market in 1st Quarter of FY10
With the LCD segment growing in India at a rapid stage, as per the latest GFK Nielsen Urban India Panel TV (LCD + Plasma TV) Report of MBOs, Sony BRAVIA has grossed the top position in Flat Panel Display sales.
The Apr-June 2010 period which is also the 1st Quarter of FY10 has recorded that the Japanese company has grabbed a market share of 32 percent (by value) and 29.5 %( by units). The company has sold off more than 1 lakh units in this stipulated time and has out beaten other companies in its ilk.
Further as per the report, the company garnered a 33 percent market share (by value) and 29.5% market share (by units) in the month of June only.
The BRAVIA range of the company is present in three segments comprising of 22-inch, 32-inch and "40/42-inch". These three segments together contribute to around 75% of all the LCD's sold in the country. And interestingly, company's maximum sales generated from the areas like Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu & West Bengal.
With this leadership the company aims to increase its footprints in other screen size segments as well in the near future.
