Sony India Targets To Achieve 30% Market Share In LCD TVs: Sunil NayyarConsumer electronic goods major Sony India is eyeing a 30% market share in the liquid crystal display (LCD) TV section in 2010-11 from the existing 25%.

Mr. Sunil Nayyar, general manager, sales, Sony India, stated, "We are targeting to achieve 30 percent share in the LCD TV segment in 2010-11. The total market size of LCD TV is 1.6 million units now, which is going to increase by
70 percent to 2.7 million units in the next fiscal."

Mr. Nayyar was in Kolkatta to roll out the 3D Bravia NX TV priced between Rs 45,900 and Rs 3.50 lakh.

Depending upon on three factors including technology, picture superiority plus design, Sony India aims to double up its sales by the next fiscal.

"We plan to double our sales in 2010-11 from 4,00,000 to 8,00,000," Mr. Nayyar added.

Sony India is also planning to bring in another 3D TV variety around June-July.

Moreover, the company also aims to double up its investment for marketing products from Rs 70 crore during the last fiscal to Rs 140 crore in 2010-11, and strengthen the dealer network to 5,000 from 2,500. (With Input from Agencies)
