New York [USA], Sept. 7 : World number one Novak Djokovic stormed into the semi-finals of the US Open for the 10th consecutive time after France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became his third opponent to pull out with an injury here at Flushing Meadows on Wednesday.

After the Serbian defending champion won first two sets 6-3, 6-2, Tsonga faulted twice on the opening point of the third set before eventually retiring with knee injury in the quarter-final contest at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

New York [USA], Sept.5 : World number one Novak Djokovic continued his rich vein of form as he booked his place in the US Open's quarter-finals with a straight-sets victory over Kyle Edmund of South Africa in the men's singles event here on Monday.

The Serbian defending champion posted an emphatic 6-2,6-1,6-4 win over his South African opponent in a one-sided fourth round contest that lasted one hour and 55 minutes at Flushing Meadows.

With the win, Djokovic will now face France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the last four.

After winning the first set, the Briton failed to capitalize on it and went down in the second before he rebounded strongly to register a 7-6(7-4), 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over his Italian opponent in a thrilling third round contest that lasted three hours and 16 minutes at Flushing Meadows.

New York, Sep 4 : World No.1 Serena Williams of the United States defeated Johanna Larsson of Sweden 6-2, 6-1 in the US Open third round here on Saturday, one step closer to winning the women's singles title for the seventh time at Flushing Meadows.

"It was a really good match for me because she played a different kind of match. It was really good for me to have a different type of rhythm and move the ball around," Xinhua news agency quoted Williams as saying of playing against Larsson.
