Ssangyong Motors suitable for Pawan Ruia?

Ssangyong Motors suitable for Pawan Ruia? When Pawan Ruia, the owner of the Ruia Group placed his bid for the troubled Korean Ssangyong Motors, many industry experts showed skepticism on what exactly is he looking forward at.

Notably, the Ruia Group has very little expertise that is required in manufacturing cars and the Group has already submitted its letter of intent for buying the troubled auto major and will soon be submitting its bid.

However, it may be noted here that when the Group took over bought Jessop in 2003, it hardly had any experience in engineering.

The same was the case when the Group took over Dunlop in 2006 as it had no competence in the tyre business. In fact, the company knew nothing about sealing systems before it took over Schlegel and Henniges Grefrath. Ruia said that the expertise of the group is in turning the sick businesses back to its feet and the troubled Korean automaker perfectly gels with its future plans.

The choice of Ruia as far as the global companies are concerned has been very apt. Be it the takeover of Schlegel that happened close to two years ago, after which the group acquired global clients matching the likes of Toyota and Nissan in the auto sealing systems business or followed by the acquisition of the German company Henniges Grefrath (later renamed Draftex Automotive) next year, which has auto-manufacturers like Daimler, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen in its client-portfolio.
