2010 has been so far the year of recalls for the global auto industry. After companies like Toyota, Honda et al announcing their set of recalls, it is now the turn of the Japanese automaker Suzuki that controls Indian car market leader Maruti to follow the suit.

Notably, Suzuki has announced the recall of its Vitara model in the US but the company has said that the recall will not affect the consumers in the Indian market. While the recall is due to a problem in the steering of the model, as per a latest report, the problem could actually result in a crash of the product.

While the company has recalled close to 47,000 units of the product that were made in 2006, the company also added the fact that since the tension adjuster pulley on the pump's drive belt could break and could eventually disable the power steering.

However, the spokesperson of the company in the Indian market has recently said that the problem will not affect the consumers in the Indian market. Vitara is the SUV model from Suzuki Motor Corporation is at the top of the pyramid in its India portfolio.
