Stockholm - Sweden on Monday began its mass vaccination programme against A(H1N1) virus, or swine flu.

Staff at Malmo University Hospital in the southern city of Malmo were among the first to be vaccinated early Monday afternoon, local media reported.

The National Board of Health and Welfare has said priority would initially be given to health care workers and certain risk groups including people suffering from chronic heart or lung disease, or diabetes.

Sweden has registered two deaths among over 1,400 cases reported. (dpa)
