Tata Docomo launches Photon Max Wi-FiTata Docomo has announced the launch of Photon Max Wi-Fi, which enables users to create a Wi-Fi hotspot anytime anywhere to run Internet on up to five devices.

The Photon Max Wi-Fi, which is powered by Qualcomm Gobi with Dual processor Technology, promises faster and reliable connectivity. As per the company's claims, it will provide Internet speeds of up to 6.2 megabits per second (mbps).

The new device has been priced at Rs 1,999. In addition, users will have to select one of the several monthly plans, which range from Rs 650 to Rs 1,500 per month, depending upon the monthly usage.

Elango T., President of Operations, Mobility at Tata Docomo, said that wireless data connectivity had inflated the level of the user experience on mobile devices, and that Photon Max Wi-Fi would allow data-hungry apps to run flawlessly between multiple users.

Launching the new product, Elango added, "We believe that data is the next frontier of growth . with products like Photon Max Wi-Fi will help boost the data revenues."

He added that data was already a significant revenue driver, accounting for around 30 per cent, for the company; adding that the figure was expected to go up.

India is the world's third largest Internet user, after the United States and China. Currently, India has nearly 165 million Internet users, and the figure is expected to cross the 330 million mark by 2015.
